I'm glad anon & Chief mentioned shoes getting uglier. This always happens after a nice retro period; i.e. after the 50's, early 70's, all of the 80's, and now.
Nahh I've seen uglier...believe me I've seen uglier...TPIR this morn had some shoes up for bid...they were ugly The early show a couple of weeks ago...had ugly shoes & for some reason some woman not our sydney darl think their sexy and hot...these shoes are very conservative for business shoes. Not for that dress better for slacks
Apparently the designer was playing around with mixed metaphors by fetishizing the heel and at the same time de-sexing the toe area. Given that, anon's reaction is what he was going for and he succeeded.

Fang,
Unfortunately, the shoes are getting uglier these days. And the toe cleavage is quickly disappearing. We gotta take what we can get.
